This has to be one of the greatest topics to have ever captured my imagination that it simply takes me to the limits of my understanding. This is actually the first thing to have ever captured my curiosity when I was about 5 years old. Yep during that time I was already reading science books and just couldn’t believe the things I was reading. They simply seemed so unbelievable that they couldn’t be true, and yet they were that I have since been awed forever.
For ages, people always wondered how everything around us got created, the sun, planets, stars, meteors, comets, interstellar space and time. Now later on in the modern industrial age, after Albert Einstein created the General Theory Of Relativity, astronomers came to the conclusion of how the entire cosmos\universe was created.
Everything started with: The Big Bang – The moment of creation
At second 0, the universe is a single hot point, no bigger than an atom. After the explosion, during the first billionth of a second(0.000000001 sec), the universe grows to a size of a volleyball. After a millionth of a second(0.0000001 sec), it is already 10 billion(10,000,000,000) kilometres in diameter, and after the first minute the explosion has already expanded to a million billion kilometres. From there it expanded, cooled, until particles from the explosion formed our Milky Way, galaxies, stars, and planets.
Physicist Stephen W. Hawking, the greatest professor of modern times after Albert Einstein, set out to understand exactly how the universe was formed, thus a theory of everything. He also wanted to understand why certain protons have no mass at all. These are the questions that nobody knows the answers to even today. He helped develop an understanding of how two theories that govern all of physics, Relativity and Quantum Mechanics, fuse together since they are incompatible with each other.
As I write this, there is an experiment set out to try to find out how the conditions were during the Big Bang. The project is called LHC (Large Hadron Collider). Basically what they are doing is build a large circular tunnel about a few miles long spanning Switzerland and this other country. They will then fire up photons, accelerating them to near the speed of light, in different direction. They will then let those two photons collide with each other, recreating conditions similar to those that existed during the Big Bang. From the data they are hoping to learn more about how exactly our universe was created and also to understand certain theories, like what exactly is Dark Matter(this is really difficult to understand because dark matter is a substance that holds galaxies together yet it is invisible. Lol like it’s one of those things that you know is there but you cannot explain scientifically). By the way this project will be the largest scientific test ever conducted, costing billions of dollars to set up. All the developed nations got together and funded this thing, so from that you should know that it’s really a big deal.
So big a deal that it got a lot of other scientist and people alike worried that it might mean the end of the world. They even call the machine Doomsday Machine. Well why are they so worried about it? They, including me, fear that the explosion from the resulting collusion will expand from that single point creating a Black Hole. A black whole is the most violent thing ever in known space. The largest black hole in our universe is from this thing called a Quasar, luckily so far away(10 billion kilometers repeated 9.4 trillion times I.E. 90400000000000000000000 kilometers) that we are safe from its destruction. They fear that this experiment will suck everything into itself, destroying all living things. It will also grow larger and larger, spitting all earth oxygen and matter into space. And eventually it will destroy our planet, then the entire solar system. That’s how powerful a Black Hole actually is, so powerful that nothing can ever escape its gravitational pull. Not even light can escape it. The experiment will be conducted sometime in December, so don’t be surprised when day suddenly turns into night while you are just getting ready for the new year LOL. BOOM! Well they say that, according to their calculations, the collusion will just burn itself out. Hope no one there miscalculated. But seriously it will be controlled!
This really interests me so much, but does not mean I believe in it. I believe God created everything exactly the way He did. Maybe His instructions for creation started with a Big Bang, I do not know since I was not there. So while that remains, I shall default to that belief.
But what I know is that there are planets, suns, stars, galaxies and they had a physical beginning/creation. The Big Bang Theory. Hopefully they will learn more about where everything came from, thus the theory of everything.
So I cannot wait to find out what these people will actually discover. It will take a few months to sort through the data. I just wish I was a part of the team. Really bad. Ah but I know that what they are doing so incredibly complex that it’s simply beyond me.
Very exciting stuff indeed…
